| Subject: 13. Cynical's Ranked Log [For LoL Players] Sat 6 Apr 2013 - 1:40 | |
| February 1, 2013- BeginningsSeason 3 officially begins and the ELO reset takes its toll on the ranked community. Placement matches begin to take form, and the idiot that I am, I follow the crowd and start matching. I have my trustworthy friend to help win these matches/ease the pain. Without fret and any sign of hesitation, we went on and played our ten matches. However in the end it didn't go so great. - Spoiler:
(Note: It may be tempting, but do not play ranked queues on a Saturday/Sunday or any time of non-productivity. The arrogant children will rise up, steal your prized role, and troll your games.)
The final record at the end of the day was about 6-4. It could have been worse, but the damage has been done. I would be placed at Gold ll, a rank below Platinum tier and my friend would be descended into Silver l, a division right under Gold V. - Spoiler:
If you ever want to have or attempt to have a good run in Ranked queues and go up all the tiers? This is what I believe you need to do.
1. Play your best role(s). Unless you're one of those hidden gems that somehow mastered every role and champion, believe in the role that's most comfortable for you. Although, when you begin your ranking journey, it is best to learn at least 2-3 roles or get a basic understanding of each. Knowledge of champions and MOBA terminology is also essential.
2. Having a tough time trying to get the role you want? Negotiate. Due to the new League Point system, lower ELO players are actually placed higher in the pick-order setup in champ select. That means, the old 'I'm higher-pick, fuck off' method is null and void as of now. If someone takes your role, do something about it. You have hands, a keyboard, and also LoLKing or some other website to spy on someone's shitty match history.
3. This may go along with Point #1, but to increase your chances of winning as a team, one must understand Team Composition and Synergy. In ranked games, (or the team that you're queued up with,) team composition is a dying art due to the arrogant children picking whatever the hell they feel like, which is one reason why they are stuck in their well-deserved tier dungeon.
4. Communicate. I can't stress this simple concept enough. You're in a team of four other people. Coordinate the team's movement, their actions and reactions. If the team does not have some sort of leader figure, then be one. Without a good leader, you can pretty much kiss your League Points goodbye.
5. Which brings on to Point #5, Duo Partners. Bring one, decrease losing chances by bringing in three stooges instead of four. Use a voice-program such as Skype or Raidcall to help coordinate you and your duo partner's actions without delay.
6. Playing a game is one thing, playing a game without intelligence is another. An essential concept of a game like League of Legends, and pretty much every other game, is Common Sense. Human nature is imperfect, and shit happens. But sometimes it gets too big and you end up throwing the game. Ranking could be scary sometimes, do not fret. Have a calm mind, and judge what actions you believe is right for you and the team in order to have a victory. February 2, 2013- Ongoing- The Trudge on the Golden PathSo I've been ranking in Season 3 since the very beginning. So two months and a bit more. It's painful, it's stressful, and full of involuntary facepalms. Picture yourself stranded in say, an island with your friend. The island is completely foreign to you and there is no sense of civilization anywhere. You feel desperate, ready to break down and burst into savagery due to the darkness within yourself. But I'm not ready to break down, not yet at least. I have been close to reaching Platinum borders about three to four times now, but the endless tidal waves of arrogant children keep blocking my path. We've failed so many times to the point I'm about to be demoted to Gold ll, and my duo partner to Gold lll. I've made this little blog of mine because the only thing we do together is play League, which is sad but cool. Also because the players here have grown acquainted with the game that some have began their ranked journeys. This blog will show a fresh and mostly-accurate depiction of the Ranked world in LoL from my own perspective. Questions of the Current Ranking MindWhy is it when you get an assassin like Akali or Diana on your team, they suck in comparison to the enemy team's Akali or Diana, which pretty-much single-handily carried the game for them? Why are more Platinum players showing up more on the enemy team than your own? Ex: The enemy team has a Platinum II, Platinum IV, Platinum V, Platinum V, Gold l, while your team has a Platinum V, Gold l, Gold l, Gold ll, Gold lll? Why do Attack Damage Carries still consider 'Blade of the Ruined King' as a core item in their builds even though it's not cost-efficient and also has been nerfed significantly? Why do lower tiers or divisions always seem to be higher-pick than those of higher divisions and tiers? Why does the Tribunal ironically create a more negative and bias community instead of its intended goal of bringing justice? These are all questions that I have compiled over my two months of constant research and play. They are all open to opinion and not one answer can be the most exact until further information from an official source is given out. (Or if there is, please refer it to me on Skype, Realphobia PM, or even Steam.

| It's because Blade of the Ruined King can be rushed alongside Infinity Edge. It gives attack speed, which makes it better for adcs than bruisers. I don't suggest rushing it straight out since it gives practically 0 standalone damage, but that passive % damage is op. I like doran's blades and bf sword with bork as my optimal build to kickstart the midgame phase.
In an era where everybody stacks health, not having swag-thief will make your autoattacks look like you're slapping those high-damage bruiser assassin tank initiator bitchfaces with a dead fish.
Also the fact that I fucking started winning almost all of my adc games this season after I started building it at a first item, whereas before I was building oldschool infinity into phantom dancer adc and doing no damage. Just food for thought.

Why did that work? Zac is pretty much a clone of Dr. Mundo concept-wise, he's a health tank that does mediocre but consistent damage. His AP ratios are weak so it's better to play him as a tanky bruiser or hard tank. I think all or most of his abilities cost a percentage of his health...He also grows bigger when you buy more health items. Come on now.

| April 17,2013- The Ahri That Cried Lights
I fucking hate people who disconnect games. Leaving early in Summoner's Rift is actually worse than leaving early in Dominion. Simply because Summoner's Rift is actually played and every role is vital unless the stars align or something.
Speaking on the topic of dcers, I had one today. An individual who was fourth pick in the assembly line and wanted to play mid so often. So she picked Ahri against a Vladimir mid lane. She has no map awareness and has caused deaths for her team 70-80% of the time. She then mysteriously left the game and pretty much lost the lane against Vlad. Comes back, said it was due to an issue with her 'lights?'
So, recap. No map awareness, feeds and blames it on something else? Not a good start. But I believe I haven't seen that much of the Ahri yet. And the enemy champions gave proof that the Ahri indeed was the scum of the earth.
Jayce and his electric balls, hits Ahri every single time. Every teamfight, Jayce would poke her down to the point, Vi could just towerdive her 50 HP ass. She continued to throw the game in similar fashion until they just pushed to our Nexus.
In short, if you know how to play a role, don't let others take it. In short short, don't trust pubs.
