The Limits of Devotion

Conani peered anxiously to the skull. She couldn't convey her thoughts unless she intruded into his mind, thing she'd rather not have herself do in front of these people.

"Devout followers?" Conani asked, a tinge of false arrogance in her voice. "Pitiful."

"Conani." Nosro whispered, making sure the devil couldn't hear.
"You are a devout follower."

"They will be dealt with in time, my lord. Any leads?"

Zentaku, "Indeed we should be able to handle that much without much trouble."

Conani gave Nosro one of those do you really think I was that dumb? looks before licking her lips and nodding. "It really shouldn't be hard, unless they are particularly dangerous."

Zentaku, "Yeah and you can just point out whoever is the leader or strongest and I can kill that one with a touch before the fight even starts right."
Thinking: "Well our lives have been a lie... might as well as guarantee that our new ones will be good ones."

Conani blinked sheepishly, and the next thing she knew, she was shaking the devil's hand.

She didn't believe it herself.

On the other hand, she wished she had bargained a little more. But it was okay for now. She didn't want to anger Bel.

Zentaku thinks, "Well this is good I see no lies in this... we will have good lives after crushing the rebellion as trusted allies... And who knows how strong we will become on our way... we might even become stronger than this guy... wait a minute... oh shit!"

"So our business here is done, great lord. I will see to it your citizens start calming down and enjoying their 18 hour shifts of manual labor." Nosro said, bowing and leaving the room. He was going to stir up quite a mess in this city. Quite.

Zentaku grabs Conani's hand stopping her from shaking the devils, "WAIT! You sir!" pointing at the big leader devil, "You left a
loophole open in that deal that I would like to eliminate! You promised
us homes, but you mentioned nothing of our safety! for all we know if we
accept now you would just give us homes then kill us! So I would like
you to add our safety in your community, that we will not be killed by
you or your men, women, and anything in-between or outside the genders
that serves under you. Is that agreeable?"

By now Nosro swayed away from the Palace, tipping the guards with some gold he'd always carried and walking into the bar he remembered the travel domain walk into.

He took a good look at the place and tried to find anyone who was cloaked or had a domain symbol visible.

Zentaku says, "Very well then your terms are agreeable." Zentaku releases Conani's arm and holds out his as well to shake the Devil's hand.

"Very well then, we shall go gather all the information we can find." Conani inclined her head slightly, and walked back a few steps before turning around completely and walking out of the throne room.

Zentaku left as well with Conani, "We should check the tavern I saw that guy from the road enter it... although my memory of that time when my mind was piecing itself back together is kinda fuzzy."

Ven while all of this is going on was playing cards in the tavern. "Two pairs i win again." Scooping up his winnings he walks to Norso . "Hey Norso how did it go."

"Well." He said, walking to where the man was.

"Don't make any sudden moves. I'll tell you about this later." He said, walking behind the man and putting his hand on his shoulder. Nosro then quickly drew his knife and put it to the man's back, making sure his cloak's sleeve disguised it.

"We need to talk." He said, knowing that whoever this was, he wasn't stupid enough to use his abilities in public.

"What knife?" Nosro asked.

"Isn't the almighty lord going to make us do 20 hour shifts opposed to the regular 18 if he finds out we have weapons? Heh, that's almost as bad as being devouted." Nosro said, stressing the end part of that line.

Nosro cautiously walked to the back of the room, making sure to follow the man closely.

*Smax walks into the town with his new cuts fully scabbed now, the bustersword on his back, trying with good success looking like he killed someone, with the lower area of his torn sleeved shirt splattered with his own blood.*

"Nosro Haspaden. You?" Nosro responded, still making sure he was safe.
