So, since I’ve not been catching up on my anime and all my free time is suddenly being taken up by Worm Fanfictions, I’m just making a topic where I can literally keep track of everything that I’m reading, jot down my list of fics to read, review, and just generally keep track of progress. May also put in some of the funnies from the comment sections, but most of these fics are long enough on their own. Hell, I’ve been reading this one fic from start to finish with comments included- taken my about a week to get less than two-thirds through- case in point, it’s possible, but unlikely

So, to get this started, I think I’ll start with the ones I’m currently reading, followed by my ‘to start’ list. Each one will have a short description, just so I can remember what I’m talking about
Below that will be a post detailing each fic in a little more detail, and I’ll be including a site and page number so I can actually remember where the fuck I’m at and make it a little easier to hop from one to another without losing track of where I was. If a series is dead or completed, I’ll mention that too

Queen of the Swarm:
SpaceBattles- Finished at Epilogue

The basic premise of this fic was that, in addition to her canon powers, Taylor gets the ability to create and control what are essentially Zerg creatures from Starcraft. In addition, she is slowly turning into the Queen of Blades as she suffers damage and regenerates.
Funnily enough, this actually ends up being a ‘lighter and softer’ story, as even with everyone regarding the Undersiders with skepticism and Skitter in particular with a mix of fear and awe, things generally turn out well for everyone involved… until they don’t. While it generally doesn’t reach regular Worm levels of depressing, it does have some severely dark moments, as in ‘cold-blooded torture’ kind of dark.
This is probably one of my favorite worm fics, which makes me really sad that it’s kind of sandbagging at the moment. Really looking forward to how the story will change, as the author has said there will be no slaughterhouse 9k arc, and it’s arguable that the golden morning would even be a thing.
Oh, shipping is a huge thing, as are cuddles. Cuddles make the world of QoS go round

EDIT: okay, as of today, 9/3/17, this fic was actually completed. I admit that my view on it has changed slightly since I started reading, but it is still a good feel-good story. Anyway, the overall story is nowhere near done, but it turns out that the author has it divided into three separate books, so while this one is finished, there is still more to come.
Sad to see it end, but watching Vherstinae in ANTICIPATION

In this fic, Taylor trades powers with a fairly minor character whose power I really enjoyed in-canon. That character was Night of the Empire 88, whose massive breaker power turned her into an abomination of sharp tentacles that can move at incredible speeds and possesses immense strength…when no one is looking. Yeah, that’s right, if a complex, sentient creature is looking at her, she is a completely normal person. Still, it is alarming how often people aren’t paying attention, about as terrifying as when they are (if you are that guy who happens to look out your window when you should be working, you might get her killed, asshole)
The power also really fucks with her head, removing much of her ability to deal with people, to the point where the only person to really team up with her iiis Cherie Vasil, who joined the Slaughterhouse 9 in original canon.
Since her power really doesn’t allow her to work in the ways regular heroes do, she decides to do some vigilante work and do some good with the power she has- by killing S-class threats.
Definitely has its moments, and is updating semi-regularly

Not a direct rip-off, but this fic was inspired by the Deus Ex series. This is a Tinker!Taylor fanfic, where Taylor gets inherent knowledge of how to give herself bio-augmentations. Kinda creates some tension and unease with other people because the power causes her to regard the human body as vastly inefficient and in need of replacement.
Also, takes a very different direction, as instead of striking out on her own, joining the Undersiders, or joining the Protectorate, Taylor gets picked up by Empire 88, not because she buys into their ideology, but simply because they were the first people in the scene who were nice to her (doesn’t hurt that she was aware of Sophia’s status from the beginning). It’s got a ways to go, but I really like where it is going so far

Instead of getting powers in the traditional sense of the word, Taylor is instead made into the Client, and gains the allegiance of the Endbringers
For those who are unaware, the Endbringers were, for longest time, considered the big bads of Worm. Every few months, one of them would attack, causing widespread damage, killing thousands of people and slaughtering capes by the dozens, with nobody having any real way to stop them. So, when all three of them break commonly-accepted patterns and rush to Brockton Bay, together, people kind of start freaking the fuck out.
It really doesn’t help matters that Taylor has nooo idea what’s happening. All she knows is she was stuffed in the locker, she was left there overnight, the Endbringer sirens went off, and she was abruptly released from the locker…by Leviathan. And it just gets funnier from there.
The Endbringers have all their powers and knowledge, and are heavily implied in this canon to be alien constructs designed to follow instructions (as opposed to canon, where they were heavily implied to be unconscious creations by Eidolon to give him worthy opponents). That said, they have a tendency to regard Taylor’s thoughts and requests as literal orders, and even if they are following them they aren’t exactly human, so their actions and reactions are a bit unusual to say the least

The image in my head, of a fifteen year old girl stalking a pit fighter with a baseball bat makes me giggle.
Now imagine her doing it repeatedly to build a throne out of his skulls. Hookwolf would be freaked out, always looking over his shoulders for bat girl, jumping at every girlish giggle he hears, and terrified to go out alone at night.

The more I think about it, the more I realize that Nurgle would be a wonderful papa for Riley. Her trigger event was all about enduring horrible things until she couldn't take it anymore, she joined the Nine because it was the only way to endure what they had done, and her power seems to focus on ways to endure--zombies and protective modifications and the like.

Riley needs to be High Priestess of Nurgle ASAP. She already has like seven deadly diseases booby-trapping her body and disturbing cheerfulness, so it shouldn't be hard; just give her poisonous sweat, a horribly sickly appearance and some pet Nurglings.
Also I can't wait to see Khorne's reaction when he hears the mythology behind the name Fenrir, and how he is suppose to unleash a world-ending battle when Ragnarök hits. I am willing to bet it's going to be AMAZING!!

It also exposed a little more of the girl’s true self to the daemon; underneath that calm demeanour there was a teenaged girl, one trying to be so much more than what most would think of her. Such...potential.

basically, Taylor gets a power that is kind of crappy: she has exactly one-third of an Alexandria package. She is invulnerable. no super strength, no flight, none of that good stuff; she just can't be hurt

that said, her invul is actually better than the original's. nothing can phase her, she doesn't need to eat, drink, or sleep. hell, unlike the original she doesn't even need to breathe. in short, she is functionally immortal

not that that is necessarily a good thing...
