| Okay, been meaning to put this on the list for a while now:
Code Geass This anime was recommended to me by TS, and I have to say, it is damn good. Personally, I would have liked to see a bit more of the aftermath, a little more of what happened to the characters after 'all of that', but I cannot say I regretted watching this anime
Basically, same world as our own, but follows a different timeline, with three major empires in the world, one of which is Britannia. The story follows a prince of Britannia by the name of Lelouch, who wants to destroy Britannia to make the world a better place for his handicapped little sister (and let's face it, Britannians are just straight-up assholes). He was unable to do much of anything until the day that, by complete accident, he met a witch by the name of C.C. who grants him the mysterious power of Geass. With Geass, Lelouch can compel anyone to do anything he wants. Once. This, coupled with Lelouch's analytic mind and talent for deception allows him to fulfill his wish and wage war against Britannia.
Problems I have with the anime: honestly, not many, but I have a few Lelouch: frankly, I do not like the MC. Lelouch is an asshole and a coward. He has his redeeming qualities, and makes some sacrifices that, to my mind anyway, could qualify as selfless, but I still think he is a dick. Suzaku: Lelouch's best friend from years back who joined the military. I. Hate. Suzaku. I can't even tell you why; he's no more of an asshole than Lelouch, but for whatever reason I dislike him on a personal level. Lacking in intelligence and Lawful Stupid, he doesn't give me anything to truly like until about the last couple of episodes.
Kallen: Probably one of my favorite characters, which is part of my problem. From what I hear, a lot of the fandom hates Kallen, claiming that she is just the fanservice and love interest of Lelouch. My fucking god- it does not take much to see that she is so much more than that. Does she have her fanservice moments? yes, but she also handles them in a completely realistic, abashed manner. Beyond that, she is a regular girl with extraordinary abilities: she is a rebel, leads a double life, is the best pilot and soldier Lelouch has, and is probably the only person not directly involved who understood what happened at the climax of the story. She is a great character, with all the strong and weak points that make her a realistic individual rather than a cardboard cut-out.
Anything else? Hmm, not that I can think of at the moment
Right, back to one piece and FMA

| Idk, I personally didn't care for Kallen much. Generally speaking, she is a mostly realistic character, however... she was an outright bitch to her mother, of whom which was doing drugs to battle depression. Instead of trying to be an understanding person, she treated her like shit as a literal servant. In my opinion, while Kallen is an ok person in general, that can't be ignored.

| Like I said, she has her flaws. Is that forgivable? Debatable. Some people would say that her actions are justified, some people would say she is a despicable person.
I would say that, yes she acted like shit to her mom... until she found out why she was doing drugs. From that point on she tried to help her mom get better, and attempted to repair their relationship, which if the finale is any indicator she was at least partially successful
I am not saying i am unbiased- if suzaku or lelouch had done the same thing I would probably be flipping shit. I am simply saying that there was a little more to that story

apparently i like Airi from queen's blade surprisingly, for being 'the Infernal Temptress' and one of the Swamp Witch's most loyal servants, she is not that bad of a person also, she's a wraith, and the undead are 100x better than the living, obviously

| Hey, anime fans! It's been a while. Let's see what I got through: Not la corda or tu love-ru got through a bunch of one piece and a bit of ergo proxy (I got a new copy for christmas!)
Here is what I Did do:
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood- watched this because I heard it was good, and I was not disappointed. One of the better anime I have watched up till now. In the world of FMA:B there exists alchemy, the science of understanding, deconstructing and reconstructing matter. Our story follows Edward and Alphonse Elric, a pair of talented young alchemists who started working for the Amestrian military in order to gain access to materials that might help them undo the major fuck-up in their past, that being their (failed) attempt to use human transmutation. The story that follows is one that shook not only the country of Amestris but the world itself to the core. I love this anime because it is real. Not Real real, it’s fantasy not history, but a realistic set of occurrences for what is available and capable in the world. It makes you think about your position and your worth in the world, and how you effect and are affected by your surroundings. We actually have a very wide and diverse cast here as opposed to just the main protagonist, antagonist, and some side characters. Everyone in the series (that is named, anyway) has some kind of bearing on the world. They have history, they have motivations. Among them are Winry Rockbell, the Elrics’ childhood friend and mechanic, Colonel Roy Mustang, Edward’s direct superior who is jockeying for the position of Fuhrer, Scar, a nameless vigilante who is hunting down State Alchemists, and Ling Yao and Mei Chang, two foreigners from competing clans who arrived in Amestris seeking immortality. I think an amazing character who should have gotten more screen time is Lan Fan, Ling’s ninja bodyguard, who is a major league badass. And of course, I can’t get out of here without mentioning MAJOR ALEX LOUIS ARMSTRONG! There is also another group of individuals that I would love to have a discussion about, but they are kind of spoilery, so I will save that for another time.
Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt- Let me start by saying that I Do. Not. Know. Why I even finished this series. I originally watched the first episode out of sheer curiosity. I finished the episode by concluding it was trash. But then I kept watching it And watching it Until I was at the very unsatisfying end Basically, the show primarily follows a pair of sister angels who were cast down to earth from heaven literally for Bad Behavior, and to get back into heaven they have to earn Heaven Coins by killing evil spirits. They do so by turning their undergarments into weapons and making the ghosts explode. Also involved in this lovely affair is a priest by the name of Garterbelt (a former gangster who was sent back to earth to be god’s missionary, and has walked the entirety of history up to this point), a geeky high school kid named Brief, an alien dog-like creature called Chuck, and the Villain Squad made up of the Daemon Sisters (Panty and Stocking’s demonic counterparts), Fastener (Chuck’s rival), and their boss (who shall remain anonymous, because I he did not get much screen time and I really don’t think all that much of him). Personally, I like the Daemon Sisters (go figure), but I also really like Stocking. It’s nothing against Panty, I just find her to be abrasive to the point of unlikable- my opinion, make your own. All in all, the show is kind of a letdown if you are looking for a really engaging story (especially the ending, which went in a COMPLETELY different direction than the show), but if you are looking for a few laughs and ridiculous combat, it might pique your interest. And truth be told there are a few gems to be found: my personal favorites were the first real fight between the Daemon and the Anarchy sisters and the courtroom episode.
Queen’s Blade- in this country, in order to prevent wars on earth, heaven mandated that a tournament would be held every four years, and the winner of this competition- the strongest and most beautiful of all the candidates- would rule as queen. With the tournament fast approaching, a new competitor takes to the stage- Leina, the Wandering Warrior. Daughter of Count Vance, Leina ran away from home to escape the life that was arranged for her and find her own way in life. While initially uninterested in the tournament, it allowed her to separate herself from her family for good, and to meet many people along the way who helped her grow in strength. That is the main premise of the story, but I doubt that is what most people will tell you about it, because the story is, basically, porn. Rather, it is just about as close to the edge of ecchi as it can be without actually being classified as hentai. Personally, I was a lot more interested in the story and how it was progressing, so those moments kind of annoyed me, but still wouldn’t go so far as to call it a bad anime. The main protagonist is, of course, Leina, the daughter of Count Vance who ran away from home to seek her own path, and did so by competing in the Queen’s Blade tournament. In the beginning this does not bode well for her, as she has very little combat experience and is relatively weak. In her first few fights, the only reason she survived at all is either because she was saved by others or her opponent did not mean to kill her. She eventually does come into her own, especially after a crash course with a certain veteran mercenary. My main problem with Leina is that in season 2, after she has had her training session and a few more fights and finally gained access to the capitol, she seems to stop being the person we knew in season 1 and becomes a new fighter entirely. I know it’s not true, but the differences are distinct enough that she seems to be two different people (especially in the OVAs after the end of the tournament, where she just kicks all the ass). She is the poster girl of the series, and frankly I’ve seen a lot worse in shows I expected more from, so I suppose I don’t really have that much against her. Just some minor character development issues. There is a large cast of characters besides Leina of course, but I don’t feel like giving them all descriptions, so let me give you the short version: Elina- why hasn’t someone killed you yet? Claudette- meh. Risty- I don’t care. Melona- go awaaaaay. Ymir- shut up shut up shut the fuck up! Tomoe- Gods you’re naïve. Shizuka- ‘sup. Menace- no one gives a fuck about Amara. Stop. Nowa- you have no idea how lucky you… Alleyne- you’ve been fighting for a thousand years and THIS is the best you can do? Cattleya- *shrugs* Nanael- How is it possible for someone to fuck up this much? Nyx- This sounds like a character I might have created, but this is not how I would have executed her. Melpha- what. The. Fuck?! Aldra- you disappoint me. Irma- for the head of a group of assassins, you really don’t know what you are doing, do you. The Swamp Witch- fight me. There are two other characters I actually really like, those being Echidna and Airi. Echidna is an elf, a mercenary who has been fighting for 500 years. Sometimes what she does is illogical or impractical, or just out there. At others, what she does makes perfect sense, like trying to sneak out of a city where a group of assassins are hunting for you. She takes jobs for money (she is a mercenary after all), but she takes no one’s shit (not even from the count’s daughters) and does whatever she wants. A huge reason I like Echidna is the fact that she is one of the strongest, if not the strongest, of all the competitors, yet she does not want to win. She is literally going up the strongest fighters in the land because she thought it would be fun. I admit it does annoy me that she literally never fights at full strength, but oh well. Her theme is also serpents, and she even uses a snake in place of her underwear, which amuses me and terrifies the living fuck out of most of the cast. Finally, Airi. A scythe-wielding, essence-devouring wraith summoned from the underworld to lead the swamp witch’s army, she is the most loyal and dedicated of the swamp witch’s lieutenants. You don’t get much from her until her fight against Cattleya in front of the Queen. Turns out that she is one of the more kind and generally decent individuals in the series. Sure, everyone has their moments of kindness, but it is more a matter of that started to define who Airi was, as opposed to just one of the Swamp Witch’s goons. Also, I can kind of identify with her: she is good at what she does, has moments of conflict concerning things she has to do but doesn’t want to, she’s focuses on her job, and sometimes takes jabs from her compatriots for being so serious. Plus…well, the obvious matter of she’s dead. But yeah, love these characters

| YEEEESSSSSS
Fucking Finally! It has taken me almost a goddamn YEAR, but I finally finished Ergo Proxy!
about this anime: the world has gone to shit, and the only humans left on earth are confined to domed cities, like Romdo, where the bulk of the series takes place. Within Romdo, life is supposed to be perfectly regimented, no crime, etc. Life is supposed to be good. but it's really, truly not. Enter our main characters: Re-L Mayer, an agent for the Intelligence Bureau, and Vincent Law, an immigrant who works disposing of machine companions that have gone rogue (yes, those are a thing). These two are inexplicably drawn into a mystery that makes them question themselves and everything they know
...yeah, that might be laying it on a little thick I'll be honest, I might just be blowing this anime up because it took me so long to get through it. I mean, for fuck's sake, I LOST my original set of DVDs for this series, and if it weren't for a couple of my very good friends getting me a replacement copy for Christmas then I probably never would have finished it All that being said, I still do like the series, even though I know I am going to have to go back through and rewatch it just to pick up on everything I missed the first time.
But YEAH. ...damn, what now?

| 'kay, finally getting around to this:
Ghost in the Shell This one was given to me this past Christmas by one of my friend-group buddies, and I had a great time watching it. Set in a futuristic, sci-fi Japan, it follows the adventures of Public Security Section 9, an eclectic bunch of ex-military cyborgs who deal with special operations problems and major security threats. Led by Major Kusanagi and headed by the tactical genius Daisuke Aramaki, the unit is primarily focused on tracking down a mysterious cyber-terrorist known only as the Laughing Man. But, as the audience and Section 9 will both soon learn, not all is as it seems.
This show has some impressive art, great characters, lots of great stuff. I plan on getting the second season of the Stand Alone Complex to watch at a later date, as well as looking into some of the older movies (which, apparently, is what GTS used to be all about) One major note is that this show is Reeeally good at setting you on-edge, in all kinds of ways. Nothing necessarily horrifying or traumatic, but no matter who you are this show will find some way of making you squirm uncomfortably.
Toaru Kagaku no Railgun I originally started watching this series on my own so that I could catch up to where my friends were, so that we could finish it together. Well, it didn't quite turn out that way, and now they are still where they were, and I've completely finished it. *shrugs*
Railgun is kind of a prequel/parallel to another series, Toaru Majatsu no Index, and I have been told that while watching Railgun itself might not spoil much, watching its second season (Railgun S) could possibly ruin the experience of watching Index for me. To that, I say, 'Oh well, can't be helped'.
Anyhoo, Railgun is set in Academy City, a place where the best and the brightest (and also the worst and the stupidest) gather to try and accelerate the progression of the world. According to Word of God, the City is about 30 years ahead of its time. Many of the citizens are students, and a good number of them arrived here in pursuit of another thing that Academy City has above all other cities: Academy City is the only place in the world that has successfully produced super-powers, and most of Academy City's curriculum is centered around pushing said power users to the limits of their strength.
The story follows the adventures of one of the most powerful users in the entire city- Mikoto Misaka, otherwise known as the Railgun- and her small group of friends within the City. Note: I have been stuck on Railgun S for a few weeks now, so that report will, hopefully, be forthcoming
Late entry- Black Lagoon
This was another of my early animes, and for having little in the way of real plot progression is was honestly really fun to watch. The main character, if you can call him that, is Rokuro Okajima, better known simply as Rock, and after he is kidnapped by a band of pirate mercenaries, he is left with little else to do except join up with them. This band of pirates, known as the Lagoon Company, is hired by all sorts of criminal outfits to do a variety of jobs, most of which having to do with smuggling or shipment.
The main locale for the show is the fictional city of Roanapur, the population of which is entirely comprised of either criminals or those who cater to the criminals' needs. Not a nice place, but it has its fair share of fascinating characters.
One thing that I really like about the series is its scenes of intense violence (big surprise), another is its characters. Hell, I think I liked the side characters (such as Sawyer the Cleaner and the twins, Hansel and Gretel) better than the main characters at times. Variety does spice up this show, at the very least Another thing that the show does really well is show that, for all its supposed romanticism, crime really doesn't pay all that well. The city of Roanapur contains some incredibly, and in some cases supernaturally, skilled individuals, but most of them live in poverty, or at the very best in some form of working class. This even includes some of the major organizations to some extent, such as the Hong Kong Triad branch headed by Mr. Chang and Hotel Moscow headed by Balalaika.
all in all, good show, would definitely recommend. If I have any complaint, it is that there needs to be more art out there, and that is more a personal matter than a complaint about the series
