Life in the Pits

Three walked into the rec room, seeing Nine and some guy. Everyone else was gone, but Three hoped they would be back like yesterday, not that it was that important for them to still be alive, as far as he knew. What was concerning him more was the question of 'was he next?'. Tough.

He sat at the table and facepalmed, thinking of ways to escape.

"Alright, goodbye."
9 says...he then lounges out in one of the chairs as he did last time

...I feel a little bad for him...as his superiors will likely punish him for the way he has acted...oh well...it was his doing, and out of his fault I will prevail. I hope I can trust this man's words...the pieces are falling together, I'll summon everyone tonight, after we are to sleep...

9 closes his eyes and sighs

...yes...it's alllll coming together...but I may have to worry about one or two of the others going against escaping, I'll have to think of what to do if this case arises...

He opens his eyes

...if they don't want to come...I guess I can't force them...but...no...I have to...because their memory is gone...they deserve their freedom...but what if they try to fight back...or what if they alert the voice or others? ....we'll see when the time comes...but...I may have to kill them.

Five minutes passed and her head began to repair itself just like the last time she died. As this was all happening she was screaming in pain but once she was fully recovered, she gasped and then looked to the man with a smile. "Hello! You're going to give me my test right?" She looked behind her and saw the blood and other materials. "Whoa! What happened?" It didn't even occur to her that it was all from her.

((She's always going to revive right? There's no limit?))

She nodded to the man and then went into her room, where she undressed herself and changed into a clean pair of clothes before addressing the Voice. "Hello Voice!"

Her eyes grew wide as she remembered the feeling of something being pressed against her forehead, the sound of a click and then waking up normally. She knew then that she had died and she would have said something if he hadn't told her to keep quiet. Nodding a bit, she said. "I can't wait..I don't like this place anymore. Can't you come too Voice? You don't seem happy here either."

She nodded and said. "Yeah, I'll do my best!"

"Okay!" She nodded and then hurried into the rec room, fully clothed this time since she learned her embarrassing lesson the day before. Smiling happily, she waved her hand and said. "Hello everyone!"

9 leans up a little and looks at 5
"Good wake Five!"
He says and waves back

He chuckles slightly and says
"I'm glad to see that you didn't forget to put clothes on today...I hope you are adjusting to your loss of feeling well...?"

...wait...what is 5's power? ...I suppose I should ask her sometime soon...

She giggled a little and said with the slightest hint of a blush on her face. "Yup yup. I remembered my clothes and I'm ready for the treadmill. Don't worry, I'll start out at a slow pace and move up from there." She smiled, knowing that Nine was probably going to be worried about her hurting herself.

"Alright."
9 replies with a smile

"Just be careful...and don't be afraid to stop if you don't feel like you can run correctly...it's better to stop before something happens than to stop...because you have to..."
9 says, the last part very slightly quieter and a small tone of worry/sadness to his voice

...he gets up and walks over to the treadmill with a chair, he sits down in an upright position and smiles
"I'll be sure to catch you if you begin to fall, ok?"

...I don't know if I really could...but I feel better knowing that I'm close enough that I could have a shot at it...

"Oh hey." Three said, calming himself down and making himself believe that the only threat to his life would be angry Samurais he could dodge.

She giggled a little and then said. "Okay big brother!" She paused a bit, wondering where that came from, and then shrugged it off while she put her feet on the treadmill. Turning it on, she moved at a slow walk before moving it up to a normal walk, which then went up to a light jog. She would move at this pace for a while since it was a pace she could try to get used to with the smallest risk of injury.

The moment 5 uttered the words "big brother!", a wide grin appears on 9's face, and his eyes almost seem to light up

...that's it...I feel like a big brother to her...or a father? ...I don't know...but either way...yes...that is this feeling I've been having all along...hidden from me by those people...not knowing what to call such a thing as it has been robbed of me....I know now...yeees...she's like a little sister to me...

9 is still smiling, as happy as ever...and it begins to fade as he glances to the others

...and what of the others? Are they like a family to me as well? ...6...yes...he feels like a sibling...a brother or a best friend...I'm not sure which...I can't say it matters...I never really thought about the rest of them in such a way........

WAIT!


...what if we really are family...what if we are related?! ...no...I know some of us cannot be related...my recent memory jog has shown me such a thing isn't likely...we're all too different in looks, we can't be of the same genes....but does it really matter? They are my friends...regardless of who we all truly are....

9 looks back at 5 with a slight smile on his face, happy that she is able to move so well
"You can do it, Five, I'm sure you'll be doing even better in no time at all"

"Good morning," Eight replied after along pause. "I am alright, but I'd really appreciate it if my skin went back to its usual color." She hunched her shoulders, anticipating something bad to happen.

Her smile never faded as she moved on the treadmill happily. Things were definitely going well since she didn't trip and she was getting her muscles used to rapid movement, which would make escaping that much easier. Thinking of something, she purposely 'tripped' and fell into Nine's arms, where she said, "Let's escape." In a whisper and then smiled and said out loud. "Thanks for catching me Nine!"

9 pretends not hear her and catches her...he smiles back at her
"I'm glad I was able to catch you Five"
9 says...still smiling...meeting her eyes just after she whispers with what could be seen as a normal look, but at that distance, she may be able to tell that the look was meant as a sign to what she said....

he pats her head with a slightly worried look on his face and says
"...just be more careful, kay?"
He smiles

"Oh, okay," Eight said. She blinked twice. After the man was done examining her she went to the wall, like the day before.
