Life in the Pits

Eight bit her lip and refrained from talking. she knew it'd have no point. But the knife was really aggravating. She wondered what would happen if she kicked the man, vulnerable as he was, in the face, but quietly decided against it.

Eight stared at the man as he walked out. Then she looked at her own body, apparently not being concerned by her nakedness and the fact that she was alone in an exam room.

Eight finally sighed and dressed herself again. She looked over to the door supposedly leading to the Rec Room and walked towards it.

As Eight emerged into the Rec room, it took here a while to grasp her surroundings. She went to a table alone and seemed to contemplate her situation very deeply.

When Eight entered the Rec room she giggled and then waved to her, saying. "Hiya Eight!" She was friendly as always and she liked seeing her friends coming out of the doors since it meant that they were alive. The more people that were alive the better.

1 becomes shocked at the news,"Why are you doing this? Are you trying to kill me?" 1 says as he puts his shirt up to his mouth and nose and trys to cover them.

Eight looked up towards Five. "Hey there, little missy," she said, and smiled in turn. She then looked over to Six and Nine, giving them a little tilt of the head as if she wanted to say something.

"Well, at least if I die it will be in the name of science!...or the like" as 1 puts down his shirt and just sits there inhaling the toxic fumes in the room.

This may just be a test, but this gas still tastes and smells horrid, but at least I know what I can do.

"Hello Eight, how are you?"

"I'm OK. This same guy asked me to stand before the wall, but this time it was quick. Then he peeled off some of my skin. From the leg. That's pretty much it," she admitted, and reached for a pack of cards.

Five turned off the treadmill once she felt she was ready and able to run comfortably. Going over to Eight now, she said. "Mind if I watch? I've never really been good at cards."

Eight nodded as she shuffled and put the cards in growing stacks. It was just Solitare. "This is a real boring game, but it's also a time spender," Eight said with a laugh.

9 sat back at the table, leading 6 to sit beside him
"...same man as before? ...you didn't mention that before"

She pouted a little when Eight said that she had been hurt. Taking a seat, she whispered as low as she could go while still making sure they could hear. "Well they shot me in the head..Apparently no matter what they do, I won't die. In fact I won't even remember dying. The only reason I remember this time is because the Voice helped show me the memory somehow."

While 9 showed no physical difference, the hair on the back of his neck bristles when 5 says she was shot...he leans over and hugs 5, whispering
"I'm glad you're ok, Five..."

He can hardly think straight, being filled with such intense feelings...anger...sadness...stress...unsure...but he manages to find one speck of happiness in that 5 cannot die, or feel pain

Three grabs a deck and starts shuffling besides 8.

"So how was training for everyone today?" He asked, determined to break the mood.

Five looked over to Three and said with a smile on her face, completely forgetting the mood. "I think I'm almost ready to start running like I used to. I can't feel anything but I use my muscle memory to guide my movements. Now I can even move at a good paced jog. Running is the next step up!"

"Oh that's wonderful." Three said, smiling back, wondering how five was taking being shot so well.
