Life in the Pits

9 reaches to them both, but would have to work one at a time, else he'd fall in as well from a sudden heart attack...so he thinks

Three jumped into the pit, but caught the ledge with his left arm before he fell in. Extending the pipe, he made sure his grip was solid.

"Grab on." He said.

(Wait... if the edges are rounded, how would the floor open?)

Eight grit her teeth, noticing the change in temperature. She reached for Six and pulled him back to his feet. She didn't want to leave Six or Three in there, but she had to. She anxiously fiddled around and jumped as Nine had told her.

(very well... Time for elaborate escape... Midpost edit: Physics roadblock! Yay!)

Three felt time stop again, having fallen in a bad position. Apparently he had time to use the pipe to stab the opposite wall and correct his position now before he fell and might break a leg or two. But he was smarter... or dumber than that. Kicking off against the wall, he decided to take a gamble, using the slowed time to his advantage. The grease, rather than being the slippery stuff it would've been in regular time became viscous. Three shifted his weight to his right leg, preparing to use it for another wallkick to get to the other side.

Apparently, however, he realized his plan reached a physics roadblock. Now that he was standing upright, time went along normally just as his upper body emerged from the pit and his right leg was ready to make the second wall-kick. Someone was unwilling to let him get back up to the correct side.

Panicking, Three extended his right arm and reached out to grab a part of the elevator floor. His hand slipped. Tensing his muscles, Three tried to pull himself up with his right arm, which was his last asset, other than part of his chest, which was on the top floor's... floor. It bought him about 2 seconds of time, in which he threw his pipe into the elevator (or throw it randomly if it isn't open... at which point it would probably fall right back into the pit.) and pulled himself up by moving his left arm onto the floor and pushing up, causing his memory to flash back to doing the same thing in a swimming pool.

After rolling into the elevator (or onto the ground), he got up, relieved. His mood was ruined, however, when he realized he was on the wrong side.

(INTO THE ELEVATOR OF DEATH!)

9 pulls 8 up...after she is safe...he doubles over, his heart straining to function properly...
gasping for breath, he says:
"Eight...help...Six....please..."

"How do I do that?" Eight panicked, concerned for Six, Three and Nine. She hadn't seen this before, but now she was seeing it with her very own eyes. She looked down in the hole and hissed air through her teeth. "We're gonna get you out somehow!"

She neared the edge again and put her arm over the edge, as deep into the hole as possible. "Jump as high up as you can, Six! Please!"

Three leaned over the ledge, grasping the elevator entrance tightly with his left arm and sticking the pipe down the hole.

"More reach." He said, wondering why there wasn't just pungis in the pit. (btw, how wide/deep?)
"Aight eight, do whatever you're gonna do..." Three added, not knowing what she was going to try.

6 swallowed as he looked up at 3 and 8. He didn't know if he could make it if he jumped, but he had to try. 9 was in bad shape and he wanted his friend to be ok.

6 crouched low to the ground and stood back up, repeating the action a few times to gain momentum. Then he sprung upwards and reached for whatever was closest.

Five was worried for all of her friends but she knew that she didn't have any useful power to help in this situation. She was just a small little girl who had to rely on the strength of the others to save their friends. Seeing Nine stressing so much, she hugged him and said. "You're doing great Nine. Take a break if you need one. I don't want you to hurt yourself or worse.."

9 smiles
"I'll be just fine, thank you, Five"

Eight leaned in more, and caught Six's hand. she really had his height to thank for that. She put both hands to work and pulled as strongly as she could. She turned her head to see Nine and Five, and gave a sorry look to both of them.

It only lasted a moment, for she was pulling hard.

9 gets up and walks over to 8 and helps her pull him up

6, finally and safely on the ground, shakily stood up. He smiled gratefully at 8 for pulling him out of the pit.

"Thanks 8." Then he turned to 9 and patted him gently on the shoulder. "You alright?"

"Guys I have another problem." Three said, looking at the 20-foot long pit.

"How are you going to get to this side?" He asked, seeing that Nine would be unable to build a dirt bridge.

"...minor heart attack...nothing I can't handle..."
9 says a little quietly

...he looks at the pit and thinks for a moment...indeed, this was a tricky situation, but he felt confident that he'd figure it out soon enough...

"...I could boost everyone over...but...I know, almost for a fact, that I'd die halfway through..."
he says the last part a little quietly, as well

"Wait toss me the keycard." Three said, looking at the key slots.

"Maybe this thing's closeable. How would the scientists get past this?"

"...No..."
9 says

"...I have a better idea..."

9 looks to 6

"Can you use your lasers to melt through the metal, and make small pockets in the metal for hand and foot holds?"

6 looked at the walls and nodded.

"Yes, I can do that. It might take a bit of time but it can be done," he said. He looked at the wall and melted a hole into it. When it was done he made another hole next to it and repeated this over and over, taking short breaks to allow his vision to clear.

At the end he felt a little cold, but was otherwise pleased with what he had done.

"Alright guys, let's go."

9 walks up to 6 and pats his back...he waits for everyone else to go first

Five nodded and walked forward, using the handholds to climb up to the top and into the elevator. Sighing, she flopped on the ground and said. It's strange when you don't know if the next pull is going to make you fall or not. Having no feeling really bites sometimes."
