Fragility of the Mind

Ariel nodded and stood up, walking back towards the elevator and going up. When she arrived at the top, she casually strolled towards the entrance and just went straight, not really caring where she ended up. She needed time to think, and the best place to do it was in a forest, or more specifically, a comfy tree.

Alevon was just dusting a little before he turns and notices the girl looking at him. He sits the duster down and slowly walks over to her, kneeling in front of her
"Hey, are you alright miss?"

He looks at her with interest and curiousity

Gabrielle blinked a few times and frowned, looking at her cellular device. "I'm getting this very strong feeling that Lance won't be able to find us with that description." she sighed. "Okay, well, I guess I'll have to send him somewhere... else."

After taking a deep breath, she called her boyfriend, to her surprise getting his voicemail instead. After giving a universal worry glance to those around her, she said, "Hey, Lance... Uh, I can't tell you where I'm at right now. If you haven't left for Michigan yet, stay at home. If you have, uh, call me back. Love you."

"...what's up?"
Alevon says, before pausing for a moment

He then smiles to her and says
"...if you're nervous about something, it's alright, you're safe here with me"

He smiles back and leans back a little more comfortably on both knees instead of one

"No problem at all..."
He scratches the back of his head and looks around to see if there's any more mess
He looks back at her

"...so, you know my name huh?"
He looks at her from the corner of his eye, still smiling

Emir sighed and began to talk.

"When all of us were going our separate ways, I came to Russia to be hired as a agent in the KGB. I've witness so much drugs, sex and violence....it was terrifying, I did my usual assassinating diplomats and such. The only reason I came in there was to find Strelok, the bastard who locked me into that...hellhole. So I began to ask the organization about him, all they said was he died already when he came into Moscow when the Mafiya got him. I knew they were lying so I quit my job and began to search only myself. Took me 2 years to get evidence on him, all his experiments and his life. I kept it with me for some reason...to find my father. He was drafted in the War so I searched the trenches in Russia still....Sleeping in dead ridden trenches and walking the vast remains of World War III. But I finally found him....rotting near some tree on a hill. I didn't cry, I just...." Emir stopped, took a deep breath and contiuned.

"I buried him on that hill and took his dog tags and the pendent my mother gave him before he left to fight in the war...." His eyes seem to tear up but no tears came out. "But I got knocked unconscious after I buried him and the reports, files..everything was gone to prove that man who locked me into the hellhole. I knew he was alive...Didn't know why he didn't kill me."

He stopped abruptly, turning away from TK.

"...and to what honor, and to whom to I owe the pleasure of this visit to?"
He says, still smiling

He didn't know why, but this girl was just plain cute for some reason...perhaps it was the shyness

"Well hello there Maya, welcome to my temporary home"
He stands up and straightens his pants

"...though I am wondering...why is it that you are here, miss Maya?"

Shrugging, Gabrielle dismissed TK's apology. "It's not your fault. I'm worried about why he's not answering his phone." Afterwards, she turned her head to Emir, and put her feet on the matress, sensing that this would be a rather awkward experience.

Her inquiry was interrupted mid-way by her ringtone, a delightfully old Airbag by Radiohead. The phone jittered in her hands a bit before she answered. "Uh, yes?"

Gabrielle lowered her voice when speaking over the phone. "No, Lance, I can't tell you." She glanced at TK and smiled awkwardly. "I think I'm safe." Another pause. "No, you don't need to come. Sorry for having misdirected you. I didn't know." She giggled mirthlessly a bit. "You want to know how I got from Kansas to Alaska to Michigan? I have, uh, friends."

She hung up after having said the mandatory 'goodbye', and looked up. She lost the sheepish smile, closed her eyes, and silently motioned for Emir to go on. "He's staying over at a friend's halfway to the way to Alaska. I feel bad for setting him up like that."

"I met Strelok......" Emir said repeatedly. "I met him, and I didn't kill him in the spot."

"O-oh?"
Alevon says, genuinely surprised

...this is new...I wonder...

Gabrielle looked over to emir. Her gaze was filled with sympathy, but it seemed completely devoid of pity. "It just proves you have more than one objective, deep inside of you. If everybody's want for revenged was resolved the moment you killed somebody... there'd be a lot more dead people. Perhaps whole continents." She leaned on the uncomfortable pillow of her bed. "Maybe revenge wasn't what you were there for. Maybe you just wanted a reason."

After wandering around a bit, Ariel finally found a spot she liked. The area was surrounded by trees so she felt right at home. She found a tall one with a thick trunk and started climbing, not satisfied until she was nearly at the top. She settled into a branch and lay back, gazing out and enjoying the scenery and quiet.

'Maybe I should talk to TK...'

She pulled out her cellphone and quickly sent: "Hey, how are things at the base?"

Emir sighed and looked at Gabrielle.

"You don't understand, I met this guy so many times.....so many reasons why I had to kill him." He said with panic in his eyes.
