Fragility of the Mind

...as Alevon sits there, images and scenes now pass through his head of TK, hundreds of them, of all sorts of varieties and severities. All the way from her and him kissing to her dying in his arms. More tears roll down his face.

...after that, then the same thing happens with Maya.

...and then all at the same time, every single one of the worst things imaginable shoot through his head, involving people, the world, Maya, and TK, as he grips his pants even tighter and trembles.

Alevon lurches forward, feeling like he's going to throw up, but doesn't. The images flicker faster and faster in his mind, growing more and more heart-wrenching and gruesome. He suddenly grips his chest, his heart beating erratically and irregularly, sweat pouring down his face along with the tears. He coughs a few times, violently, eye lids flickering open ever so often, his eyes rolled back into his head. His entire body is shaking

Finally, deep within Alevon's mind, he finds the place he is looking for...the mesa that he had seen in his dreams so many times before...and upon it stood all of his personalities. They are all discussing something.

...and so, that is the final arbitration.

...we must all unify, stand as one.

...act as a whole.

...in perfect rhythm.

...unison in our performance.

Alevon grips his chest very tightly and coughs hard as he breathes fast and deeply, having a full-blown heart attack. His face turns pale and blood drips from his nose as he shakes violently.

AS ALEVON DREY!

He then gasps sharply and his heart stops, he falls to the floor with a hard thud, motionless, no pulse

Alevon lays there for a moment before his right arm whips up, even with his heart stopped, and it hits the ground...then his left...

He pushes himself to a sitting position, and swings his head back, eyes closed.

Suddenly, his heart begins beating again, and his eyes snap open.

His left eye is blue, and his right eye is red....but now, there is a cyan ring of blue around both of his pupils, and a dark red shimmer to his right eye, and a green shimmer to his left.

He stares into space ahead of him for a moment before standing defiantly, ignoring Udo, walking to Maya.
He kneels down and gently lifts her to a sitting position and says in a calm and soothing voice:
"It's time to wake up now, Maya"
And he kisses her on the lips, long and softly, closing his eyes as he does so

Gabrielle decided it was time to head in. She breathed in as much air from the outdoors as she could. Looking at her motionless surroundings, she was filled with chargrin for the people who had absolutely no idea about the dimensional fallacy that was occuring, just having the impression that their lives were absolutely uninterrupted. She wondered if, somewhere, elsewhere, somebody was also frozen in time. She wondered if somebody was frozen in time when she had the impression of going on with the most mundane things.

It was deep shit.

She went into the small elevator by herself. She disliked that stuffy room, but she had overcome her claustrophobia ages ago. She thouht so. She was sure of it.

nce she was down underground again, she opened the door to see... Udo kneeling over Alevon, checking his pulse. "What in the world?" she gasped. "What now?" she watched him get up. The unnatural look in his eyes. Him walking over to Maya. Him kissing Maya. The only thing Gabrielle could do was stand there like an idiot with her mouth agape.

Alevon stayed in that position, kneeling, looking at the ground where Maya had been, his hands staying in the same spot as well.

He stands up and calls out to her
"Mayaaaa!"
He looks around, and he then takes off, looking for her, calling her name

He rushes in, just as it closes, and he pushes the button that makes the elevator not move
"Maya, please, listen to what I have to say..."
he takes a step towards her, slowly

Gabrielle pointed to the elevator a couple of yards behind her. "She's... in there. But I wouldn't know what's going on. I just came in."

"Maya! You don't understand! You came into my life when I still loved TK! I was still trying to get over her! I knew, deep down that it wasn't going to work, so I started trying to clear my mind of my love for her! I think you're a wonderful young lady, Maya, and I only want you to be happy. I like you, alright? But I need time to get over the pain I've received from losing TK! I know I can love you, Maya, in time!"

He gently but firmly grabs her by the shoulders and says in a lower, calmer, and more soothing voice:
"I want to like you, ok? I'm trying...I really am...I want it to work between us...but the timing was just..."
He pauses, looking away

"...it was bad timing, alright? The whole thing...TK...you...Videor...it was all just bad timing...I really do want you in my life...please forgive me, Maya..."
He says, looking down, his eyes both blue
