Hoooly crap i can't believe i didn't read this one up till now. short as it is, this is far and above one of the more interesting stories i've picked up out of the Worm fandom.
basically, taylor died in the locker (i'm reeeally starting to see a pattern here..)- there was a nail in the locker that nobody saw, and when she was shoved in it went right through taylor's throat. she died in minutes, choking on her own blood.
Emma triggered as a powerful precognitive Thinker

13 years to the day after Taylor died, a series of murders comes to the attention of the protectorate ENE: someone has been killing teachers associated with taylor's death, apparently due to induced nightmares.
it gets better- the next instance, the two people still most closely associated with the case in the Bay area are in the same building, PRT headquarters. the Master/Stranger-induced hallucinations take out half their fucking personnel

waiting excitedly to see where this is going. very good horror vibe- one of the few instances where i've actually been able to feel the mounting horror. this really feels like a vengeful ghost story, which makes it all the more nerve-wracking considering that this is Worm-verse

bit of a slow-burner, so even though it's been a couple of months it could still update

another bloodborne/worm fanfic, but with a bit of a faster burn than Hunter. not sure i like the direction it is taking, but it is doing okay.

Dawn of Worm

crossover between Dawn of War/Warhammer 40k and Worm
started out really well, but it took a major divergence from 40k lore and i'm not entirely sure i like it

A Sliver of Hope

I had my doubts about this one for a while, but then i took another look at it:
Taylor. has the ability. to create Slivers from Magic the Gathering.

take a second to think about that.

Slivers, the monsters that get stronger and more varied abilities the more of them there are
that would make people shit bricks in Worm-verse

even better, because Taylor doesn't even stop to think about how terrifying this is; she calls them cuddlesnakes

anyway, this one the author has actually stated is on hiatus right now, but set up to watch for it when he/she/they come back

taylor is a brute that gets stronger the more people are afraid.
i love this concept, but the thing is it also fucks with her brain and makes her more confrontational, more sadistic. thing is, i've actually imagined this for some of my own AUs, and i have to say i'm not sure i like the way it played out. oh well, decent enough, but i've read much better

kind of a weird one. the locker event takes place in a dumpster instead, and instead of an actual trigger event, a wild Contessa drops a Case 53 vial in on Taylor, and she turns into a spider-girl

now, you would think that I would love that concept, and I do
but not only does the author overlap the abilities of an Arachne on top of her canon power, but the story is, sadly, not very well written, spaced, or paced

mind you, i'm not sure i could do much better, but still, it feel a little bit...unwieldy to read

think i've mentioned this one before, but this is a story in which taylor's dad dies on christmas night, before the events of canon Worm, and just before Taylor is about to be driven to her own personal hell in the form of the Barnes household, she sparks with the soul of a Planeswalker, and begins a rather interesting journey

she's only been out on her own for...a few months, maybe as many as six, and has only been to two worlds, but still, she is making wondrous progress

Space Battles- part three

pretty simple but also pretty awesome premise: Taylor and Dinah switch shards
kind of

Taylor gets the precognition shard, but instead of formulating immediate answers, she has more of an...esoteric application. works best with some form of medium. dice, for example. she actually managed to roll out what would happen during the events of the locker, and how best to get what she wanted out of the event. also, apparently no thinker headaches- so far

Dinah gets the QA shard, but instead of assuming direct control, she instead just has great formulative ability- once she has a goal in mind, she can picture how best to organize the team she has in order to get the job done

Grisly
SpaceBattles- caught up at 2.1

Taylor has Moord Nag's power, and after a meeting with the protectorate and being seen by sophia as she was dropped off outside of a shopping mall, ends up killing the ward in self-defense
could have been really cool, because Taylor just about walked out on the Undersiders, and maybe leave the city

(it's nothing against the setting, but having read so many fics by this point, i really want taylor to be sick of life in her home town and just up and leave)

Still have my hopes up that this one could be great, but we'll see

All Alone

emma died by accidentally impaling herself on a knife during the ABB hold-up
shadow stalker feels like she failed, taylor comes back from camp to attend the funeral, and there is sadness all around

Can't Take the Skies From Me

taylor is an independent hero, having triggered in the locker (surprise, surprise) and gotten Genesis' powers. as an independent, she works with a bunch of different people- busts gangs with New Wave, helps Uber&Leet with videos and LARPing

and then Panacea has to come in and try to drag her back to her old life, the one she had hoped to forget

not sure i like this reaction from Panacea, but I definitely like the reaction from Taylor: this is one of those where she realized that no one would help her, the bullying wouldn't stop, and she just decided, 'fuck it, i'm out of here'

behemoth hits brockton bay the day of the locker. eidolon realizes that he can make more of a difference for one city than he can jumping all over the place. taylor gets the power to control vibrations. these changes...change things

really kind of conflicted on this one
initially brought in because it was advertised as taylorxsimurgh, so i was like, 'oh, i've gotta see this', and the initial one-shot was actually fairly good. obvious crackfic, but good

the following two chapters...not so much. try to play themselves off as prequel and sequel, but neither follow the narrative set up by the original, so i have trouble giving the entire set the okay

Blood Will Out

this one started out really well, but it started to take a really nasty turn. Points to the author for making one of the most repugnant versions of Coil I have had the misfortune to read. If The Wolf Time made me hate the heroes, this one made me absolutely despise the snake in the grass
Oh, and Sophia Hess, for fucking up Taylor so bad she lost half her fingers to necrosis and permanently scarred the girl, got pissy when the PRT wouldn't cover it up, and went back to torture the still recovering girl to death in her own home

basically, Annette Hebert was the twin sister of The Marquis, and Taylor is Amelia's (present-day) unknown cousin. She triggers with the ability to manipulate blood, and it is So Fucking Useful.
Oh, and when Danny ends up in the hospital because Sophia shot him in the process of trying to kill Taylor, her aunts and uncle come down from Chicago- turns out they are Marquis' old lieutenants.

been stalled for almost a year, so i'm not sure it's coming back, and i'm not completely sure i would follow if it did, but it's a decent read

Tinker Taylor, Cyberspy

hasn't been updated in some time, but fairly well-done.
taylor triggered earlier than in canon, as a tinker specializing in surveillance, and had evidence against everyone involved in the bullying campaign, set to be released if she didn't update the code every few days
THEN the locker happened...and she was in a coma for a week, at minimum

she actually triggers again in the locker, giving her the ability to access electronic systems, a la Ghost in the Shell
very cool, if annoyingly short

especially like where this is going because right now taylor is in the middle of a fight against behemoth, and i'm excited to see how that is going to roll
also, lol, when people were showing up it was made standard procedure that anyone who had something that could do a lot of damage should take a shot at her so she can get stronger. Then Alexandria shows up...

According to Wildbow's PRT Quest and Weaver Dice, this is how one gains a given power:

-Mover (Effects that move you. Flight, speed, teleportation, etc.) - Drive to escape, flee, run.
-Shaker (Wide area effects) - Environmental danger, ambient danger, often nonhuman or only abstractly human.
-Brute (Enhanced Strength and/or Enhanced Durability) - Experiencing physical harm or pain.
-Blaster (Pewpew - You have ranged attacks built in.) - Man vs. Man, threat approaches from a distance, or in great number, being surrounded.
-Breaker (Physics kind of tickle. You alter yourself in such a way that rules apply differently.) - Abstract physical danger or harm, difficult to define pain or stress (not mental or physical.) Frequently arises from the hardest triggers to label.
-Master (Minions, pets, affecting the thoughts and moods of others.) - Isolation, alienation, exile.

-Changer/Shifter (Shapeshifting and alteration of the self’s PHYSICAL form.) - Issue in physical state. Body image, or a crisis of self image vs. society’s expectations.
-Trump (Powers that affect other powers: add, remove, complicate, compound) - As other triggers, but altered further by involvement with other powers. Rare.
-Stranger (Powers related to stealth, infiltration and subterfuge.) - Attention of a group/individual threatens emotional/mental security (vs. physical, which would be more blaster). Almost inverse of Master, but not opposite - very possible and common for there to be overlap (often creating a more influential sort of master/stranger cross).

Taylor gets a Heartbreaker-esque power and starts building her own group, starting with a cell of the Merchants. Not only does this do an excellent job of showing the the Merchants are in fact somewhat competent, or displaying (after some close calls) some good competence with a Master power (and its effects) it also has some good side-characterization

last update was only about a week ago, so i expect to see an update soon
