It occurs to me that calling people 'a Scrooge' when they are being tight-fisted with money is actually...kind of backwards

the entire point of 'A Christmas Carol' was about Scrooge learning that greed only lead to misery and loneliness, and about his journey to humility and charity.

to go from there and call a greedy or penny-pinching person a Scrooge basically defeats the entire purpose of the children's story

Just a silly little Alphas thing:

guy who got a small grab-bag of powers, mostly minor, but with a focus on acid blood. instead of using if for combat, this guy used it instead to engrave, embellish, carve, fuse, whittle, stress, and otherwise effect materials to create art of all kinds- sculpture, furniture, pottery, whatever

We have several different libraries on my university's campus (mostly for different fields of focus) and as I was passing by one of them, I noticed a sign in their window- 'No Watson Books'- referring to how they should not be serving as a repository for people who are too lazy to take their books to the proper library

and all I can think of is the librarians being indignant, like, "God. Dammit, Dr. Watson! We are not responsible for your Shit!"

many animals are born with at least some built-in instincts to help them survive
humans, for the most part, don't, or at least they don't typically have the strength to act on them
i have a hypothesis, that due to the fact that human infants are technically born early (due to the mother's body being unable to carry a child past an accepted point), these infants lack natural survival capability, and if the child could be carried longer, their development would increase, along with survival capability and less dependency on parents in developmental stages
not particularly testable, but to test this, have a control group of babies and children born at a normal time, children who were born early, and children who were born late, and see if there exists any difference in their development and capabilities

it would be a two-level drop in spellcasting ability, but putting three levels in acolyte of the skin might actually be worth it. glare of the fiend stuns any creature with fewer than 50 hp (so basically everything normal) for 10 rounds. holy shit

*sighs* and everything was going so well...

okay, so i have been reading a worm/bloodborne fanfic called "Hunter", and it inspired me to do a run based on its events, as a kind of challenge run. I had been stalled for some time due to the Blood-Starved Beast, but I got on today and made a fuck-ton of progress. Killed the Cleric Beast to get the Sword Hunter badge and get access to antidote purchasing, killed the BSB, accessed the Church Hunter Workshop, pillaged the area below the Workshop, finally got Cathedral Ward opened up, saved some people. All was going pretty well, so I decided to reward myself and farm for some blood echoes to buy Ludwig's Rifle, just to fuck around

in my run I, without thinking, walked into the Tomb of Oedon and initiated the start with Henryk, and of course Eileen got involved. dominoes fell, and Eileen eventually died.

Eileen and Taylor are good friends in the story; Eileen does not die.

So now I have to start the entire run over again.
Fuck. My life.

EDIT: restart is going okay. got gascgoine down to 1/3 of his health with nothing but my starting stats, no upgraded gear, and about 9 bullets and 6 blood vials- and that was just to get my opening insight.
lets see, i currently have 13 vitality, 12 endurance, 14 strength, 10 skill, 5 bloodtinge, and 14 arcane. to get back to where i was before i died (which is still going to take some time and effort) i need another 2 vitality, 3 endurance, 2 strength, and 3 arcane (was building for the augur, even though i won't get if for a bit still)
also need to get some bloodgems and to upgrade my saw cleaver to a +3, but that can wait for now
actually, considering i basically missed patches the first time 'round, i may get the augur this time.
