Apparently refused to join or got thrown out of the Wards, tried to set herself up as a Rogue selling costumes and the Empire burned her shop down, and so on. At the time of the story it is ten years after the start of her downward spiral. she is longtime friends with Amy Dallon, and is invited along to Dean and Vicky's wedding, to drink her misery away

actually really well-done vision of how badly Taylor's career could have gone, not in the sense that she ended up dead, but rather that she is trapped in an endless downward spiral in a dying city with no prospects.

Also made me really happy/cathartic to see what I am pretty sure is Sophia, all grown up like Taylor, in the background. The years have mellowed her out a bit, and she finally comes back to the BB Protectorate, sees Taylor, and realizes just how badly she fucked this woman's life up. Just...having Sophia, or any of the Trio, see that their actions have consequences, makes me really happy. Unfortunately, this comes at the cost of having Taylor's life be fucking terrible

Very different story start
this story diverges from way before winter break. Taylor had seen the 'friend' she'd been building up meet with Emma, and decided to follow her, only to be dragged into a van. The E88 had been kidnapping homeless kids to try and force them to trigger and brainwash them- Taylor looked the part (being poor) and was in the wrong part of town at the wrong time.
She spent 4 months basically being tortured, even after she got powers, and the story starts with her 'indoctrination' where she would have to kill a black man to get the bomb collar off her neck and be accepted into the Empire proper. This goes awry because she's been planning since day 1 and stages a breakout with the keys close at hand. Things then proceed to go to shit.

Very well done, lots of action- as one commenter said it's like watching a Rambo!Taylor. very nice. hopefully the person is just on hiatus and didn't actually drop it

Not an actual 'read it' post (...goddammit), but more an in-list note to myself

apparently, the fic 'Yet Another Worm Fanfic' is an essential for those people who plan on writing their own fics, as it supposedly points out a lot of the flaws and issues that crop up in many such stories.

Since I am in the brainstorming/story-boarding stage of several stories (Witch and Crawler, most definitely, as well as Kraken, Curse, and possibly Runaways), I should probably read this before too long

EDIT: just read it; it's only a one-shot, and hoooly fuck i think i got cancer from that shit. Like, I've heard people talk shit about repetitive stations of canon, and after reading...*Checks*...almost 275 worm fanfics (good god, so that's where all my time went) I am kind of tired of seeing them over and over again, but this just condensed it down and purified it to undiluted shit. Yeah, I am going to be very careful when and if I ever use any of this stuff

really fucking weird one in which Taylor is basically the Siberian, but with a couple of differences. For one, the 'projection' if you can officially call it that is fully sentient, with its own personality and everything. Beyond that, both normal Taylor and projection Taylor share their emotional output, with most of the negative and the powerful emotions going to Tayberian and the softer, subtler ones going to normal Taylor. I should probably mention that Danny didn't initially realize that they both had emotions and picked normal Taylor over projection Taylor, so now Tayberian hates the fucking both of them

a really short series by Ack showing how canon might have gone differently in the beginning of Worm with only a few changes. When the Trio pours juice on her in the bathroom, Taylor punches Madison in the face and the both of them get detention. They share this dubious honor with a boy from the Empire, a boy from the ABB, and Aisha Fucking Laborn.

Set very much in the style of the Breakfast Club, it really shows the five of them getting to know each other, past their surface differences

Shit has more or less hit the fan, with Taylor getting whammied again and again and again, but OP has already said that is mostly over for the moment. We'll wait and see

Taylor gets Alucard's powers in the Locker, and Danny dies in a car crash driving them home from the hospital. didn't get a whole lot further than that.

The writing really wasn't all that great- really rushed, little explanation or expansion- but I really can't say much given how i haven't written up any of my fics yet. If it actually does get a rewrite I would read it

This one might not be updating for a while, if ever, since the author originally intended it just as a bit to keep writing daily.
I will admit, I enjoyed the original premise: Taylor was Butcher 1, with pain projection and nerve sensing. Not having heroic powers but wanting to be a hero, she pondered on what to do, until she was unceremoniously pushed down a flight of stairs and had her neck snapped, at which point she discovered the hidden aspect of her ability, that being that she is effectively immortal and constantly transfers to people upon death, taking powers with her

Even better, she started out in the body of one of the worst possible people- Sophia Hess- who was not only a bitch who hated Taylor, but who also accidentally killed her.
Thing is, while it started out dark as hell, it dropped off in the latest arc, with the overall crew now being in Dauntless, one of the most unobtrusive and flat characters they possibly could have tossed them into. especially bad is the fact that not only did it not give them any goal or conflict to fight against, Dauntless didn't even need the power-up; he was already going to be Triumvirate-strong eventually. Better for both flow and efficiency to give it to Armsmaster- who would be a constant source of conflict not only in his own station but for everyone on down the line, while also offering a great power- or Miss Militia, who honestly should have been the one to get them (seeing as Sophia died on her watch and MM vowed to get revenge on the killer). Dauntless, in all honesty, made zero sense as the recipient of the Chorus

Still, if this story gets updated or re-written, I'll keep up

This one was only a single chapter, released a couple of months ago. The author is admittedly lazy, so it could be on hiatus or dead, but i'm really hoping it's just the former, because the premise behind this is amazing.

This story has Taylor getting a version of Cherish's powers, and in the immediate moments after waking up in the hospital and in a haze of painkillers profiled literally every cape in the Bay area, aired their dirty laundry on a public forum, and woke up with the PRT at her bedside.
And thusly, the stations of canon were not so much side-stepped as they were burned to ashes and danced upon

With A Whisper

This one didn't get very far. The author did say updates were going to be slow, but the story is widely considered dead at this point because of how long it's been. Sad, because this one was extremely well-written.
Started later than in canon, waiting until Taylor's senior year, and she opened up by unapologetically killing an entire school. few stories actually pull of Taylor going Carrie well, but this is one of them.

Smart Taylor with an incredibly powerful and versatile power, one I think I've mentioned before...
...Nope, I didn't.
Okay, Taylor has the power of Screamer, one of the original Slaughterhouse Nine members, which was sadly much downplayed in canon, because it is so unbelievably strong for what I can only believe to be a natural trigger. Manipulation of sound up to a certain level, any sound that can be reproduced within that limit (including silence), anywhere within range (which was measured in miles). This is in addition to complete awareness of sound within her range, echolocation, and so on.

Finally, even though she doesn't get his power, I'm seeing a lot of Jack Slash in this version of Taylor. Like Jack, Taylor is good at finding what people want, and giving it to them to bring them over to her side. This became a point right before the fic stopped, where Taylor was planning on recruiting 6 more people to her crew of three, making this almost a mirror of the actual Nine.

Nemesis

This is a really good one by Ack

Going way elsewhere from where canon usually takes place, this is a story set in a small town in...Pennsylvania I think? and doesn't even follow the story of Taylor.
This follows the story of a man who woke up in an alley and then accidentally killed a cop.
Overall, the story is based around a Cauldron power program by the name of the title, where two capes are built to fight one another.
Does a really good job of establishing how the set of canon applied to places that aren't Brockton Bay, or even other major cities.

Looking forward to more, though knowing Ack if he ever get back to it it'll take awhile

A Pathfinder crossover, this story is okay, but there's a couple of little details that just kinda make me cock my head a little bit. oh well, decent time-waster

This is a long-dead one; mixed feelings because the majority of the chapters were fairly well-written, but a couple really weren't.
Crossover with the Witcher, where Geralt was dying, so one of the spellcasters from the Witcher setting (I've never played the game, so I don't know who) sent his soul to rest in another's body, that 'other' being Taylor Hebert. This gave Taylor many of the upgrades of a Witcher (because magic) and passively (though not actively) gave Taylor a personality more akin to Geralt's own- calm, jaded, and with a dry sense of humor.

Another of Ack's fics, this one a divergent story where the Brockton Bay Brigade's attack on Marquis does not go as planned and Marquis makes an escape to Boston with Amelia.
Actually had a really nice, fluffy bit where she is friends with Taylor and Emma while they are still in middle school. And then they are at a track meet and become friends with Sophia Hess, some time before shit goes down.

But then in the latest chapter...shit finally went down. Not sure if I want this story to actually complete or if I want it to be left to imagination

New one where Taylor is constantly reborn in the Locker. Every time she gets up, changes the world, fights the final war, fails, and is reborn again. and after so many attempts, she is honestly kind of sick of it.

Honestly, this looks really fucking good, and I hope it continues.

she gains her usual late-game Khepri ability...immediately. this makes her one of the most feared Masters and one of the instant most wanted as a fresh, new parahuman
And then the Slaughterhouse shows up...

Considering the Nine were really meant for their scare factor, and the fact that the author has already said this will get Saw levels of dark, I'm very intrigued
