Alexandria's ploy to get Taylor discredited works and Taylor is slated to go to the Birdcage. She never arrives, as she was picked up by Cauldron and put in charge of one of their strike teams, on the stipulation that the rest of the Undersiders be protected

it's...interesting, but I really don't fucking like that Alexandria more or less got away with putting Taylor back into her trigger event conditions and bullying her once again. Sure, I understand that she has done worse, and she is trying to save the world, but it's the fact that she suffered literally no penalty for it at all (for Taylor and for the rest) that really pisses me off.

The rest is actually really good, though. Contessa hasn't really been explained to her, Number Man if fantastic, and the member's of Taylor's strike team are unique and colorful. Oh, and there are butterflies all over the place that I really appreciate, like Dragon and Defiant actually trying to do something when Taylor turned herself in with good faith and got railroaded, or Phir Se wiping out the Indian sub-continent because Taylor wasn't there to convince him otherwise. You know, things that just make sense, but you wouldn't think about otherwise

Memories of a Simurgh Victim

A weird one. Basically a divergent from canon story, the Simurgh hits BB instead of Leviathan, and everything goes to shit.

Veeery different set-up, particularly with the Slaughterhouse 9 and with Taylor.
Can't spoil too many details, but:
-Annette is alive
-Danny is dead
-Taylor and Emma are still friends
-Taylor is a Tinker who can build items to give people powers, which get stronger the more people are using them to work together

Nursing a Grudge

Canon-divergent
Madison Clements didn't make it to the Endbringer shelter when Leviathan hit, and ended up trapped in a half-flooded basement for five days. Taylor, separated from the Undersiders and not knowing what to do, is volunteering at a hospital.
Taylor locates Madison via flies, gets her out of the basement and nurses her back to health.
Things ensue.

Hasn't been updated in like, a year, but it's such a good story that I have hope

Just the Two of Us

Holy shit, this one is actually complete.
Basically, canon Worm, but with a twist

...Okay, a lot of twists.
Doesn't so much fit the superpower story build; takes a lot more elements from the psychological thriller genre, and plays it very well. I can't spoil too terribly much, but it does have a semi-sweet ending that is very open-ended.
Not the kind of story I typically enjoy; honestly didn't like the tone for about the middle third of it, but then again that was kind of the point, building up towards the ending.
definitely a decent read, though it is far, far, far from a favorite of mine.

Crime and Commitment

Right before the Undersiders go as a group and Coil shows them Dinah, Taylor makes the decision to help Coil, so long as he agrees to clean up the Bay area.
A Taylor actually dedicated to being a villain.

Also draws a bit more heavily the Thinker aspect of Taylor's power, and explores the idea of her having a Master/Tinker power, focusing on breeding insects for specific strains of mutations, such as larger spiders and centipedes, or having honey bees produce nitroglycerin. The whole thing stretches suspension of disbelief, but is actually kind of reasonable considering Taylor's canon powers.

Flight Risk

Just started earlier this week, this story goes kind of like JinglyJangles' bits, showcasing a Taylor whose power has resulted in a massive disconnect from reality.
Not too much to go on yet, but already liking the premise. Power kind of reminds me a little of Bambina from canon Worm, but with additional bits

The Cat Burglar

currently only a one-shot, this has a Taylor that gets a grab-bag powerset that tacks on a side order of kleptomania. She goes around stealing all sorts of bits and bobs from the local capes, from one of Miss Militia's scarves to Glory Girl's tiara all the way up to sneaking onto the Rig and shaving Armsmaster's beard off.

And then she auctions them off on-line.
this has promise; here's hoping it continues

RE:Cycle

Told from Gallant's perspective, this story has a Taylor that joins the Wards only to find afterwards that Sophia is there. Sadly, she doesn't leave, although she does make life difficult for other people, which I appreciate. What I don't appreciate, though I can understand given the PRT's perogative, is their trying to push Taylor- and by extension- her father to re-locate to completely different city simply because they don't want to actually deal with Taylor's accusations. starting to see way to much of it, and it's honestly starting to get annoying that Taylor doesn't just up and leave.

The Student

haven't really delved into the Post-GM fics yet, but this one is really good
as mentioned, this is a story that takes place post-canon, where Taylor has had her powers forcibly removed and was put on a world that was later sealed against portals, so she remains hidden.
Very interesting to see how people interpret her actions, especially as no one knows who she is

Worm Respun: A Peggy Sue story

Taylor gets sent back in time just after the Echidna battle to just as she met Sophia outside Emma's house. Things go sideways from canon almost immediately. Story actually starts off with Taylor stealing a car to pick up a newly-runaway Lisa.
not a particular fan of Peggy Sue stories, but this one is light-hearted and funny enough that I'm giving it a chance.

Well-written, fantastic characterization, canon compliant, and takes some really good turns, especially in the last couple of chapters. been on hiatus for about six months, but hoping like hell it isn't dead

The Undertakers

The Undersiders' battle with Uber, Leet, and Bakuda goes poorly, and the whole group does end up getting captured and executed in horrible, Tinker-bomb fashion as a statement against the enemies of the ABB
...and in the process force Taylor to have a new trigger event (after a fashion) and start hunting down Bakuda for revenge.
Not completely sure where this one is going, but I am watching

Emma and Sophia did attempt to make Taylor stronger. And it worked...kind of.
Danny died of a heart attack when Taylor ended up in the hospital as a result of the locker. Emma ended up feeling horrible about it and tried to make amends with Taylor at the funeral, before Taylor had to come home with them, and Taylor realized she had powers.

Taylor ran. Taylor became a powered hobo. It remains to be seen how this ended up.

This one is interesting because it was started way back in 2014, and seemed to die after 4 chapters. a year and a half later, a couple more chapters showed up, before the author stopped again. The latest chapter was just put up in April, so there's some hope this one might be continuing

a short story about Taylor getting Night's power and finding out that Grue's power is basically like catnip to her 'real' self.
Also takes an interesting turn in Taylor's interpretation; Night considered her power, her other self, to be ugly, whereas Taylor takes it more from a lit professor's kid's perspective and interprets it much in the way that Lovecraft did, that some things simply aren't meant to be seen and understood as man understands

It's funny how I was just considering writing a Hookwolf!Taylor backstory/snippet, and someone else pops up with a Hookwolf!Taylor story.
follows the stations of canon a little much for my tastes, especially considering the power Taylor picked up, but has some interesting characterizations and is fairly fun on the whole.
Definitely more crack than actual story, though, which i feel kind of doesn't do justice to a Taylor with Hookwolf's powerset. Then again, I would have said the same thing about Burn-Up, and look how that turned out

The Art of War

Lung had a daughter before Kyushu was destroyed. When she triggers, Lung has her brought from Tampa Bay to Brockton Bay to live with him. Her power is fairly similar to his own, although she is obviously less experienced and more naive than he is. Playing to a few tropes about Lung, but so far is fairly good.
Kinda stuck on chapter 5 though; not immediately catching my interest for some reason, and it's 11k words long. I'll get back to it, but not today

Bombs Away!

This fic is long fucking dead, but it had a decent premise. Bakuda's attempt to hold Cornell goes about as well as canon- read: it doesn't- and she gets arrested. However, instead of Lung breaking her out, Bakuda takes Legend up on his offer and joins the...Wards?

yeah, that's where it lost me. Mind you, I still caught up to the end since it wasn't all that long, but still. Bakuda was a college student and they had her join the junior heroes division. Like, what the fuck?
It was...okay, I guess. Not trash writing, and it had its moments, but it didn't really pop for me like I expected when i read 'Hero!Bakuda', so more than a little disappointing
