Life in the Pits

"Something tells me everything but the card slot is defunct." Three said.

9 grabs the card with the dirt/telekinesis thing again and swipes it

"My super senses also tell me up is bad, if I had super senses." Three said, standing in front of the door way to cover the others if the pit's army waits for them.

"Yeah? Well my senses tell me that one is good. So far, my hunches and senses have gotten us this far, no? I say we pick one. As it would go up, and with walls this thick, maybe out."

Five minutes passed and soon Five's body began to convulse as she was revived from the dead once more. Yelling out in pain from the revival, she soon calmed down and realized she was in Nine's arms. Blinking, she said. "I died didn't I? Sheesh, it really is good that I don't remember these things. It couldn't have been pretty huh? What happened?"

Three wondered what to say to five, but left it to Nine to explain how her tragic death played out.

"Think about it, everyone who walks in here would go up on first thought. Reverse psychology. Plus, we don't even know where we're going." Three said.

9 seemed very stunned...his face, pale...he is shivering almost...
"Five...you...you felt the pain?..."

The hairs on the back of his neck bristle up once again, his thoughts racing

Pain! She can feel pain, and nothing else?! To hell with this, they're ALL going to DIE!!!!

She tilted her head in confusion and then said. "What are you talking about? The last thing I remember was talking to you about letting me soak up the electricity and the next thing I know I'm in your arms. Usually these lapses in my memory mean that I've died some way or the other."

9 lowers his head...
"...you were...screaming..."
9 says, his voice low and sorrowful

"Screaming?" She was even more confused. She didn't remember anything like that at all. Shrugging her shoulders, she said. "Oh well, I'm better now. Let's get up to the surface now okay? I wanna go outside again..At least, the Voice seems to want me to escape outside and I trust him a lot."

"So you really want to go up?" Three said, getting ready to press the "100".

9 inhales and nods to 5, still with the furious and pained look on his face...he turns his head sharply to 3, with narrowed eyes, and a scowl on his face
"And what if you're wrong, huh? What if that only takes us lower and deeper into this place? With such walls, it is safe to assume that up is the correct way to go, as it will likely lead out. Even if I'm wrong, it's more logical to go up than down."

"What? I thought you wanted to go up." Three said.

"Ok, press one. Misunderstanding."

9's expression slowly eases from fury to a more calm and sympathetic look...he had acted out of the moment as opposed to giving it decent thought...recalling the elavators he had seen in his past life, he re-assesses his judgement

"...no...you were right...when I think about it, elavators usually have the higher numbers marked for the higher levels....however, if the exit to this place is up and not on the ground floor, then it should be one. I honestly don't know which number it would be...."

9 says, now looking at 5, his eyes partially closed

Seeing that the two of them were at a stalemate on what to do, she simply let out a grumpy sigh and jumped up of Nine's arms, ran to the numbers and jumped up to press the one button. She then returned to Nine's side and then said. "What floor are you usually on when you enter a building? The first floor! One is definitely the right choice."

9 nods, with a slight smile
"...you're right, Five..."

9 glares at 3
"...alright, now everyone be prepared for the worst...3, I'd like you to be in the front, in case someone tries shooting us, you can deflect or redirect bullets."

"Copy." Three said, his memory flashing back to when he was holding some kind of gun... Shooting at people with a white-red-blue banner on their tanks before being knocked out by something... Big.

He was actually looking forward to security. This place's security was worse than that of the South Ossetian presidential palace... Wait, where was that?

9 pats 5 on the head and looks forward, at the doors
"Six, if you would, stand just behind Three and to his left, I'll take the right.......and Five..."
9 says, and then looks down at 5

"...press your body against the wall to the side, in case they shoot at us when the door opens, alright? ...even if you can't be killed, precautions should be taken if possible."
His hand resting on her shoulder

Five gave a small nod when she was told to get up against the wall. Doing so, she pouted to show her dislike of her placement on the team. She knew that she couldn't die and even proved that to them just now but still he treated her as if she were just a child. Sighing, she waited for the events to unfold.

9 kneels down to 5's level after seeing her pout...
"Five...I'm not trying to be unfair about this, alright? I'm sorry if it seems that way, but there are just times where you may or may not be in the front line..."
9 puts his hand on her shoulder again, his head level with hers

"...thank you, very much, for what you did back there, but right now it's best for you to stay back. Because you can't die, it's more likely that they would try to capture you first...and if you're dead, you can't do anything to defend yourself. So, until we get out of here, please, let us do the fighting...."

He hugs her tightly

Three spun his pipe around. It was a 4 foot thing, good enough to cover the whole elevator entrance even if he didn't do as much as pivit. He knew, however, it would be shortened should he deflect the bullets in the wrong way. He needed to hit them on the side, or reverse their course. Well... need would be an overstatement.

When he put it that way he really did have a point. If she were to be killed, she would just be a burden to the people trying to escape since she would slow them down. Giving a small nod, she looked to Nine and accepted his hug. "I understand now..I'll do my best to keep myself from getting killed. At least until we escape from this place. I wanna see just how much I can handle." A look of mischief was in her eyes for a second.
