Fragility of the Mind

"I can't die," she said simply.

"Better be a buffet or I will cap someone's ass." Emir replied, walking to the entrance.

"Kate, hows it going?" Emir came by her and hugged her tightly. "It's been so long..."

Raine's eyes snapped open and she looked up at Josh where he stood. The expression on her face was blank, and she spoke as if the next sentence was perfectly normal like, "I went shopping today."

"They're dead to me and as am I to them."

Ariel sighed inwardly as she made her way back to the room where everyone else was. She scratched the back of her head, wincing as she felt a small headache coming on. It annoyed her that her head started to hurt at this moment, but she was somewhat used to it now. For years she had been experiencing these dull aches in her skull that only went away with time. She frowned at the thought.

When she made it back, she noticed that Raine was still talking to Josh. Ariel nearly cracked a smile at the sight of Raine normally interacting with someone. She didn't want to disturb them.

As she walked through the room, she saw two very familiar faces and her face lit up when she recognized one of them immediately.

"TK!!!"

Gabrielle's eyes flashed with a certain determination. "But my death can't be accidental. It has to be planned, to be expected." Then she chuckled softly at her own words and looked at Mike's face contemplatively. "I know what you mean, man... But I'd get bored of living eventually. Especially since, like I said, this body isn't gonna last."

She bobbed her head forward and smiled. "I know you'll miss me, Mike. But if I die, I'll die happy."

Raine stared at Ariel as she walked by, that smirk halfway across the other woman's lips. Raine felt the need to scowl but she stopped before she could. No need to show unnecessary emotion.
She closed her eyes and smiled as smile like the ones she produced while high.

"My life has no value... but" she said, in a dream like voice, "I do enjoy a good conversation now and again, please, continue talking." She stretched, arching her body. All her piercings were visible now, except for the one she had on the back of her neck. They glinted in the light that was shining.

Raine looked at the Josh-copies made of light. She thought to herself, almost comically It's almost as if I'm high.

"We all have opinions, don't we?" She grinned, thinking of their new conversation topic. Raine unzipped her sweater and sat up quickly, crosslegged.

"How many piercings do you think I have?" she asked casually, stealing a glance at the commotion going on outside of the room.

Raine smirked, "Alrighty then, give it to me." She couldn't help but slip in a slightly suggestive sentence.

"Oooh, tingles," she joked, slightly cautious because of the mist. She wondered if he was actually going to get the right number. There was a special piercing she never told people about. She didn't think that Ariel even knew about it.

Raine was stunned but kept her composure. She laughed a bit nervously and broke out a crooked grin.

"Ding, ding, ding, you are correct! And why thank you," she paused, poking the man with the toe of her boot, "a fit body is something you can count on, on the streets."

After hugging Kate and leaving her abruptly to see the party, Emir walked in where the group was, and waved at all of them.

"Hey guys, miss me?" He said grinning.

"Pretty good, I'm a deputy right now, living with TK, Aki and Tyler....and well I'm doing good!" Emir said, getting a chair from a corner and put it next to Josh.

"How are you doing man? Getting enough chicks?" Emir said, playfully punching his arm.
