Fragility of the Mind

Raine smiled, sitting down on the ground and clasping her hands in her lap to prevent them from slightly trembling.

"It was beautiful," she looked up at Josh, cracking a half smile.

"And that Mike guy seemed interesting enough," she commented, not really interested but not knowing what else to say. The people here weren't her usual crowd.

As Ariel brushed her arm, Gab felt rather ashamed for the cheerful approach she would take.

Gabrielle cracked a smile at Mike after Ariel left, and hugged him without hesitation. "It's good to be back." She inhaled his quickly familiar earthly, manly smell and released her grip, finally. "How have things been at the base?"

TK stretched and walked back to the door. "Emir and I will find out what's going on in more details tomorrow. Something feels off...and I'm worried."

"I'm not to be honest." Emir getting a cigarette from his pocket and lighting it up with a match.
It wasn't a addiction, Emir had huge amounts of willpower to negate most of the drug's addicting effects. "El would be alright, who would harm him?"

Emir puts the cigarette in his mouth, while he threw away the match.

"We going yet? Can't wait to see Alevon's douchebaggery again." He said, his voice muffled by the cigarette as it's smoke hazes his face.

"He should be, Sis. I mean come on It's a reunion!" Emir replied, his cigarette hanging from his mouth.

"And come on Ak, we need to go, unless you got fat on us." Emir looking at Akihiro.

"I'll drive my car, you guys can do whatever you want." Emir said, shrugging as he walked outside to his car. His appearance seemed bored but in reality, he was really excited. He couldn't wait to see his old friends and the base once more.

Gabrielle smirked at her old nickname she had so grudgingly accepted when she was still thirteen. "I see. Back then I really had no clue I was the life of the party, you know? but it seems that with me gone, so has part of the team spirit." She paused for effect. "I really want to see the others. TK, Alevon, Emir... Saul. I miss 'em phenomenally. Seeing Ariel still alive and kicking really brought my spirits up." She smiled.

Emir waved his sister goodbye and got in his car.

The keys were still in the ignition switch...."Probably drove drunk....." He turned the key and the Engine roared loudly. He change gears... Reverse......Drive...and went to the base. The car roared as it came to the 4th gear, going 120 mph.

He knew the location of the base: he memorized it when he drew it at the base 10 years ago...and it's in the car's cup holders right now. So either way, it was a foolproof plan if he forgot where it is or not, he'll still know where it is.

Raine let out a snort of laughter.

"A drunk, rough and a killer, wow, he's the kind of guy my mom told me to stay away from," she joked.

"How'd he kill you?"

Emir drove to the base, coming first before TK and his family. He parked the car, a few meters from the entrance of the base.

He got out of the car, putting his burnt cigarette butt on the ground and crumbled it with his loafer. He walked to the entrance, putting his sunglasses in his front pocket.

"Well, see if anyone is alive still...." He muttered, looking at the base as he walked.

Gabrielle nodded and smiled sadly. "Technically I'm immortal, but this body isn't going to last," she said. As an afterthought, she added, "well, I don't have a single slab of fat or meat on my body, so I guess I don't have to be afraid of obesity." She laughed a rather shrill, girly laugh. For a moment she reminded herself of back when she was still making snide remarks on an hourly basis.

"I'm 100% natural, baby," her smile turned grim, "when things got weird I left my house, didn't really want to freak my rents out. They wanted me to be a 'cookie cutter girl'."

She stretched her legs out and lay back on the ground, her hair fanned out around her like a bright sheet of ice. She closed her eyes, almost able to see her old memories of "home."
