Fragility of the Mind

It... Was a setup! Yia thought as he looked at Kate then up at the camera. "Why single out TK though?" Yia asks just loud enough for Emir to hear.

Just as she hit the red button that ended her conversation with her boyfriend, seeing the events unfold, Gabrielle's eyes widened in shock, her hands dropping at her sides. She didn't know whether this was a big joke, some kind of attempt at humor, or whether they were really being arrested. Either way, it didn't fly well with her. She put one hand up.

"Wait just a minute, officer!" she shouted despite clearly seeing Kate's pain. "If we didn't arrive here, all these people would be dead! It's--it's legal to kill if it means you're saving somebody who's helplessly being attacked!"

Ariel's jaw clenched as she heard Kate's announcement. Her hands clenched into fists, though she relaxed slightly when she saw how pained Kate was. She didn't want to do this.

There was no way that Ariel was going to allow herself, or her friends, to be arrested. They didn't deserve that.

"I'm not going," she said defiantly.

"What?" Gabrielle's anger left her for just a brief moment, replaced by profound confusion. "But--I am a licensed Alpha. Not a biological alpha, but licensed..." Suddenly she got frustrated again. "They can't do this to us, Kate! I don't care what the laws are, they're wrong and we're right!"

"Can't you see?" Gabrielle exclaimed in one last desesperated try to make Kate listen to her. "It's what they want. It's what they want! They're using you!"

She grit her teeth. "They're trying to seperate us."

Ariel backed away and stepped closer towards TK, spreading out her arm slightly.

"I can't let you do this, Kate," she said quietly. "If we're in jail then we can't stop the Masterminds. You know this."

"I think this is another ploy by the so called 'Masterminds'". Yia says also getting in front of TK. "'Divide and conquer' as they say."

Ariel stepped in front of Kate, blocking Yia from view.

"Don't hurt him, he's just a boy," she said, grinding her teeth.

Gabrielle, now exasperated, pulled out the phone and dialed the notorious number. Almost immediately getting her call picked up, she yelled into the phone, "Lance you see that? You see the news? I'm on the news, right?" She seemed to be pushing that inquiry hardly.

"Gabs! what the hell is going on?" could be heard over the phone.

"All those people pased out, Lance. You see this woman? You see her, right? That's Katelyn. Remember the face. I got the job done somehow, Lance." She took a breath and gave a quick sweep with her eyes over the scenery around her. "Lance, I need you to come and get me out of jail."

"What in the world are you talking about?"

"Just go to jail and get me out of jail, please." Gabrielle ignored her boyfriend's questions and rather roughly turned the phone off for the fiftieth time that day. She looked around, especially looking at Kate like she was trying to stare a gaping hole into her.

"Watch the clothes, please, they're vintage." With that request, she seemed ready, even confident, to go.

Ariel turned her head to face Gabrielle, confused.

"You're going with her?" she asked. "That can't be Kate! Did you just hear what she said about Tim?" She turned back to face the woman in front of her, her hands shaking slightly.

"Kate, this isn't you." Ariel kept her voice steady as she held her ground, waiting for a response.

"Shapeshifter? Illusion? Who knows. I don't know Miss Katelyn very well but it's obvious this is some trick to get TK alone so they can use her for... Grace!" Yia yelled looking at TK. "They probably have Grace! You left her with Kate right!?" Yia says his eyes growing wide with terror.

Ariel froze and whirled around to face TK.

"TK, is that true?" she asked, her eyes wide.

'Shit... We have to get out of here.'

"Shoot Emir Shoot!" Yia yells at him.

"Dammit!" Ariel shouted. As "Kate" walked away, the earth in front of her exploded up, latching onto her legs in an attempt to stop her.
